The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation and the Schwab Foundation  in collaboration with UNDP  and the Confederation of Indian Industry  are holding the ‘Social Entrepreneur of the Year Award, 2006’ in India. The award program being held on November 27 during the India Economic Summit in New Delhi, aims to recognize and honor the growing spirit of social entrepreneurship in the country.

The award program has a high–powered jury committee comprising of leaders from the corporate world, as well the development sector. The committee includes Maxine Olsen—UDBP Resident, UNDP, Uday Khemka—Board Member and Managing Trustee, Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation, Klaus or Hilde Schwab—Founder Member, Schwab Foundation, Rajesh Tandon—Director, PRIA, B.K. Jhawar—Chairman, Usha Martin Ltd, Bvrraju. R. Raju—Chairman, Satyam Computer Services Ltd., Shekhar Gupta—Editor in Chief, Indian Express, Ashok Khosla—Founder, Development Alternatives and Anu Aga—Chairperson, Thermax Ltd.

Constituted in over 30 different countries, the winners of the award get admitted into the global network of Schwab Foundation and are given unprecedented opportunities to further the cause of their work. Besides meeting several times a year at various opportunistic platforms, they get to be a part of the Global Summit for Social Entrepreneurship and also have an opportunity to participate in the Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum at Davos. The winner in India is also being recognized by The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation as a ‘Khemka Fellow’, with a monetary award of 18,000 USD.
