Tony Blair was in Delhi as part of the ‘Breaking The Climate Deadlock’ initiative. The project is being conducted by The Climate Group , an independent, not-for-profit organisation that works internationally with government and business leaders to advance climate change solutions and accelerate a low carbon economy. They have convened, at the instigation of Tony Blair, a set of experts, [among others Jennifer Morgan, Director—Energy and Climate Security of E3G—Third Generation Environmentalists; Laurence Tubiana, Director, IDDRI—Institut du Developpement Durable et des Relations Internationales (Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations)], to try to devise the framework capable of getting the developed world, including of course the USA, and the developing world, including China and India into a comprehensive deal to tackle climate change.

Tony Blair will lead this work and guide it politically, making sure that the technical work is given the right political direction. This builds on the work Tony Blair did both in starting the G8 +5 process at the Gleneagles summit in 2005 and helping bring about the deal at the German Summit in 2007.
The visit by Tony Blair will provide him a unique opportunity to meet with Indian leaders and officials and focus on bridging the potential gap between developing and developed countries on the critical issue of climate change. The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation is proud to support the ‘Breaking the Deadlock’ initiative as well as The Climate Group in India and globally.
