Selco MD gets entrepreneur award

New Delhi, Dec. 2: “We have to create and provide sustainable sources of eco-friendly energy to the marginalised communities and at the same time, limit the harmful implications on the global warming,” said Mr Harish Hande, managing director, Selco, that offers solar energy to rural as well as urban poor.
Mr Harish was awarded Social Entrepreneur of the Year 2007, at a function here which was attended by members of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), World Economic Forum (WEF) and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The executive chairman of World Economic Forum and co-founder of Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship, Mr Klaus Schwab, said, “Social entrepreneurship is innovation in action which helps to create new technology that addresses social issues and it is the collective conscious of these people that lift the marginalised to make their lives more easier and sustainable.” The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship and the Nand and Jeet Khemka had collaborated with UNDP and CII to select and award the Social Entrepreneur of the Year.
