Overview
The Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation is committed to addressing the environmental issues facing us today, both within India and globally. Much of our work is focused on taking action to combat the urgent challenge of stemming the impact of climate change.
The recognition that climate change could potentially have devastating impacts on the Indian sub-continent as it threatens key water sources such as the glaciers of the Himalayas and annual monsoons, has informed the Foundation’s work in India. To that end, we are working with strategic partners including TERI on creating an integrated Indian Energy and Climate policy. We are also researching the effects that climate change may have on the monsoons and how societies can both stem these affects as well as adapt to them.
Internationally, we have been working to bring together foundations and philanthropists committed to climate change mitigation into the Climate Change Philanthropy Action Network in order to share knowledge and leverage resources. The Foundation has also supported the work of the Forum of Young Global Leaders (a partner of the World Economic Forum), where Uday Khemka serves as the Chair of the Environmental Taskforce. The Earth Love Movement is an initiative of the Environment Taskforce and was recently launched at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
Another key initiative is our work with a number of prominent partners to establish the Iceland Climate Change Action Summit, a multi-stakeholder event that brings together key players to develop strategic action steps to address climate change on a global level to influence consumers, businesses and politicians.
