The Nabha Foundation seeks to promote health seeking behaviour, provide access to quality health care and address immediate needs by organizing check up and immunization camps for the people of Nabha with special emphasis on the needs of women and children. Some key initiatives include:
- Community Health Program—the Foundation has organised need based specialty health check-up camps for the general population in Nabha town and Bhadson village of Nabha Tehsil. Medicines, laboratory examinations and corrective lenses, as recommended by doctors, were provided free of charge. More than 7000 people have benefited from these camps.
- School Health Program—provides access to quality health care at the school level. The program is supported by the local health department through the Civil Hospital and Community Health Centre. To date, the camps have reached out to over 3000 children.
- HIV/AIDS Prevention Program—the program is focused on Nabha Tehsil, in both rural and peri-urban areas. Team members carry out door-to-door awareness sessions as well as group sessions in villages, bastis (informal settlements) and colonies. The Foundation is also facilitating voluntary HIV testing and access to antiretroviral therapy to people living with HIV/AIDS. The program team has covered over 15000 people in various villages.
