Education
The Nabha Foundation is committed to the creation of an enabling environment for children and youth of Nabha at all levels. The goal is to mainstream out-of-school children, especially those who come from marginalized sections of society, and to stem drop out rates. With the community’s active participation, the Foundation seeks to develop innovative quality education centres that can be replicated elsewhere in Punjab.
- Innovative School Program—three model rural schools have been set up by the Foundation in Nabha Block to mainstream out-of-school children, especially from the disadvantaged sections. The focus is on collaborative and experiential learning so that every child learns deeply and meaningfully. The program is implemented in collaboration with Vikramshila Education Resource Society , a national educational organization. The aim is to mainstream the children by providing an enabling environment for quality education, that ensures a connection between the worlds of knowledge and work
- Remedial Education Program—the quality of school education in Nabha, as elsewhere, is a matter of serious concern. The Foundation has started a Remedial Education Program to improve the quality of education for school-going children, for better academic performance and overall intellectual development. Six Remedial Education Centres have been opened in Nabha Block and around 350 children are enrolled in these centers.
- Scholarship Program—The Foundation has instituted a scholarship program for Punjab Public School (PPS) , a premier centre of learning in Nabha. Three scholarships will be awarded annually to students (2 female day-scholars and 1 male boarder) on merit and need basis.
- Building Grant to Government Ripudaman College—the Nabha Foundation is supporting the construction of a new educational block in the college, an institute of historical significance in Nabha.
- Career Guidance Program—started in response to a felt need in various government schools of Nabha Block, this counselling program has been conducted in 11 schools and has been attended by approximately 1800 students to date.
