Subhasis Chakraborti

Subhasis is the Chief Operating Officer for the Nabha Foundation. He has over seventeen years of experience in social community work focused on children and human rights and played a significant strategic role developing CRY (Child Rights and You). For the past five years, he was General Manager of Development Support for the organization. In this capacity he formed and implemented a development and advocacy strategy in CRY’s campaign for the restoration of child rights in India.

Subhasis’s areas of expertise in non-profit organizations include the formulation of strategic policy and programme directions, team building and people management, networking, alliance building, and capacity building. Besides strategic level management expertise, Subhasis has extensive on the ground experience that comprises field and headquarter based support and supervision of emergency programs after the floods in West Bengal in 2000 and the Gujarat earthquake in 2001.

In addition to his work with the Foundation, Subhasis was the founder of Voice of People (VOP)—a state level network in Uttar Pradesh working on human rights. Subhasis is National Executive Council Member, National Alliance for Right to Education and Equity (NAFRE—a national network with more than 2400 members). He has also worked for UNICEF as a consultant in eastern India and has designed and facilitated numerous workshops and trainings for partner NGO’s on child rights, human rights, strategic advocacy and social analysis.

Subhasis holds a Post Graduate degree in Rural Development from Xavier Institute of Social Service, Ranchi, India and a B.S. in Anthropology from Calcutta University, India.
