Debadideb Datta
Deb, Program Manager, directs the Community Foundations initiative and oversees the Finance Department.
Deb started his career as an accountant and auditor in 1993. With over 6 years of experience working on the accounts of both businesses and non-profits, he shifted careers—moved by the fact that West Bengal had the highest number of suicides in the country—to set up Kolkata’s first suicide prevention centre, Lifeline Foundation. During his 3 years at Lifeline, Deb recruited hundreds of volunteers, training them to operate the helpline and to run the recruitment and training processes.
Later he joined Pravah, a Delhi-based organization, to work in youth development. Deb led outbound rural exposure and leadership development programs that served over a thousand young people. Under his management, the program was able to successfully achieve self-sustainability. By the time of his departure from Pravah, he was promoted to Director of Finance and HR.
Deb specializes in program design, instruction design, facilitation and training and holds a Masters Degree in Sociology and is a Certified Volunteer Manager from Washington State University.
