Amita Kapur

Amita is an Independent Consultant and Senior Adviser to the Nand & Jeet Khemka Foundation and to the Nabha Foundation. In addition she serves as Trustee to CRY  (Child Rights and You) India, a national public charitable trust.

She has over 25 years of experience in the development field. Her areas of expertise lie in innovative and dynamic philanthropy and the nonprofit sector; conceptualization and establishment of institutions and strategies; human resource development and empowerment; organizational development; partnerships with government, business, media, professional and individual sectors, youth, and international bodies.

She was, progressively, Founding Member, Director-Northern Region, Vice President and Trustee, and finally President, CRY , India, a national public charitable trust. CRY represents a people’s movement for child rights, and better futures for India’s disadvantaged children. It works towards mobilizing diverse resources from every sector and section of society and deploys these resources towards initiating, strengthening and expanding child development projects and programmes in India. Vigorous public education and interactions, as well as exhaustive sectoral and cross-sectoral networking form a critical strategic base.

In addition, Amita has served as Board Member of Civicus, representing the Asia-Pacific (Civicus is a World Alliance of CSOs, headquartered at Washington D.C.); Founding Board Member of the Civicus Asia Pacific Region, Sydney; Board Member of South Asia Fund Raising Group (SAFRG); Founding Member of the Indian Centre for Philanthropy and Board Director of CRY Inc., New York.

Amita holds a BA in Arts, History with honors from Delhi University and a BA in Education from Calcutta University.
